Patients & Families

Visitors are Welcome

At CHAM, we believe children heal best when they are surrounded by family and loved ones. You are an important part of your child’s care team, and we want to partner with you to create a safe and supportive environment for all.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines

When you arrive, please remember to check in at the Welcome Center on the unit.  All parents, caregivers and visitors should clean their hands prior to entering the room and should remain in their child’s room unless they are entering or exiting the unit, or unless directed otherwise by hospital staff. If any non-parent visitor, including siblings, is sick, please wait until they are better before visiting.

Staying with your Child

  • One parent or caregiver over the age of 18 years is welcome to stay in the room with your child at all times.

Visiting Hours

  • Visitors may include parents, caregivers, siblings, other family members, or close friends.
  • Visiting hours for visitors over the age of 12 years are 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
  • From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, there can be up to 2 people total at the bedside.
  • Visiting hours for siblings of any age are 12 pm to 9 pm. During that time, there can be up to 3 people in total at the bedside, one of whom is a sibling.
  • In the Critical Care and Intermediate Care units, each patient may have up to 2 people total at a time during visiting hours.

Siblings Under 12 Years Old

  • When they arrive, let your child’s nurse know that a sibling is visiting.
  • Siblings will stay in the patient’s room during the visit. For safety reasons, the playroom is reserved for patients only.
  • Siblings cannot be left in the hospital without a parent or caregiver.  Please help siblings avoid interrupting care for your child or for their roommate.
  • There may be times when siblings will not be allowed to visit at the bedside for medical or safety reasons to protect your child or for another patient. We appreciate your understanding and following the directions of the nurse, physician or hospital leadership.
  • All visits to a patient in a Critical Care Unit or Bone Marrow Transplant room by siblings under 12 years old will be discussed with the care team and approved ahead of time.

For Patients Having Outpatient Procedures

  • Up to 2 parents or caregivers may accompany the patient.Â
