Nursing at CHAM

Our Nursing Professional Practice Model

Our Nursing Professional Practice Model fosters competence, engagement, collegiality and working closely with others throughout the medical center to promote patient-centered outcomes. It also empowers our nurses, with a model that:

  • Focuses on nurses’ dynamic, compassionate relationship with patients, families and communities.
  • Emphasizes the connection between delineated care plans and proven outcomes.

We believe in investing in our nurses. The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) provides robust opportunities for continuing education, certification and leadership development. Our nurses are encouraged to pursue advanced degrees, participate in our professional governance councils, research, and present at national and international conferences.

Nursing Professional Governance: CHAM’s nursing team thrives on collaboration and shared governance. Our professional practice councils empower nurses to shape policies, improve workflows and contribute to the strategic direction of the hospital. Nursing Professional Governance consists of several councils and committees at the unit-based and hospital wide level. Membership includes nurses across the organization, including clinical nurses, advanced practice nurses and nursing leaders.
