CHAM Nursing Specialties and Units
The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) employs more than 450 nurses, including 60 advanced practice nurses in our inpatient and outpatient settings. Nurses at CHAM can choose from a range of pediatric specialty areas to work and grow their clinical expertise.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): The 20-bed PICU at CHAM provides specialized, high-acuity care for critically ill and medically complex children. Our multidisciplinary team of expert pediatric intensivists, nurses, respiratory therapists and other specialists deliver around-the-clock, family-centered care to children facing life-threatening illnesses, trauma, postsurgical recovery and severe chronic conditions.
Pediatric Cardiovascular Care Unit (PCVCU): The six-bed PCVCU at CHAM provides specialized, high-acuity care for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart conditions. Our expert team of pediatric cardiac intensivists, specialized nurses, respiratory therapists and cardiac surgeons delivers comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for patients before and after complex cardiac surgeries, catheterization procedures and advanced heart failure management.
CHAM 9: The 36-bed Pediatric Hematology/Oncology & Transplant Unit at CHAM provides comprehensive, specialized care for children with cancer and blood disorders, as well as children undergoing stem cell, bone marrow and solid organ transplants. Our expert multidisciplinary team delivers cutting-edge treatments in a compassionate, family-centered environment.
CHAM 6: The 36-bed Adolescent & Epilepsy Unit at CHAM provides specialized care for teenagers and young adults with a wide range of medical, surgical, neurological and psychological conditions and needs. Our multidisciplinary team of pediatricians, neurologists, specialists, nurses and social workers offers comprehensive, age-appropriate care in a supportive environment that respects the unique needs of adolescent patients.
CHAM 8: The 42-bed Infant Respiratory, Cardiac and Step-Down Unit at CHAM specializes in providing advanced care for critically ill infants with respiratory and cardiac conditions. Our multidisciplinary team of pediatric pulmonologists, cardiologists, nurses and respiratory therapists offers state-of-the-art treatment for complex respiratory and cardiac needs, ensuring the highest level of care in a compassionate, family-centered environment.
Pre- and Postprocedural Services: The Pre- and Postprocedural Services at CHAM provide specialized care for pediatric patients before and after medical procedures, surgeries and interventions. Our multidisciplinary team ensures children are well-prepared, comfortable and safely monitored throughout their surgical or procedural journey.
Pediatric Emergency Room (ER): The Pediatric Emergency Room at CHAM provides 24/7 specialized emergency care for infants, children and adolescents. Staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, nurses and child life specialists, our ER is designed to deliver rapid, compassionate and family-centered care for a wide range of medical emergencies.
Ambulatory/Outpatient: The Pediatric Ambulatory and Clinic Units at CHAM provide comprehensive outpatient care for children with acute, chronic and complex medical conditions. Our multidisciplinary teams deliver specialized treatments, advanced diagnostic services and ongoing care management in a child-centered, family-focused environment. Our dedicated pediatric infusion suite further enhances this care, offering a safe, comfortable and thoughtfully designed space to deliver complex infusion therapies with compassion, expertise and attention to the unique needs of each child and family.
