Services & Programs

PPediatric Respiratory Medicine provides diagnosis and treatment for a wide variety of respiratory illnesses in infants, children and adolescents. We offer comprehensive consultation and follow-up including, when necessary, diagnostic imaging, flexible bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing and sleep studies.

Some of the conditions and problems we care for at our center include:

Asthma
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia and other complications of premature birth
Airway anomalies including laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia
Respiratory failure associated with technology-dependence and chronic mechanical ventilation
Pulmonary Complications of Sickle Cell Disease and oncologic conditions as well as therapies including Bone Marrow Transplant
Respiratory complications of Neuro-Muscular diseases including muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy
Sleep-disordered breathing

     

    SERVICES

    Asthma Center and Pulmonary Function and Testing Service  

    The Bronx has one of the highest rates of childhood asthma in the country. Our Pediatric Asthma Center is one of the first of its kind in the country. It is a multi-disciplinary center where its team members work closely with patients and their families, successfully treating it as condition that can achieve good control leading to remission. Our pulmonary function testing (PFT) lab is equipped to test children as young as 3 years. We routinely perform bronchoscopies to better understand the disease and offer advanced medical therapies including biologics for the treatment of asthma.  


    Aerodigestive Program at Montefiore (ADAM)

    The Aerodigestive Program at Montefiore (ADAM) consists of a unique multidisciplinary team devoted to the medical and surgical management of complex pediatric airway and esophageal disorders, swallowing disorders, and sleep abnormalities.  

    Sleep Center

    The Sleep Disorders Center at CHAM is the only full-service sleep laboratory and evaluation center dedicated exclusively to children in the New York metropolitan area, these physicians focus on diagnosing and treating physical and behavioral sleep disorders.   

    Technology Dependent Center

    The Technology Dependent Center at CHAM is a multidisciplinary center that comprises of lung specialists and speech specialists, respiratory therapist and social worker, that works closely to provide optimal pulmonary care to children that need support for ventilation with or without a tracheostomy tube.
