Application Information

Instructions for Application

The three-year Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship Program at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) accepts two fellows each year. We accept the common application available through ERAS online and participate in the Fall Pediatric Subspecialty Match.  Please visit the ERAS website for an application and important deadlines.

The following information should be uploaded to ERAS:

  • Completed online application
  • Current photograph
  • Personal statement
  • At least three letters of recommendation, including at least one from a neonatologist who has worked with the applicant and one from the Program Director. 
  • Dean's letter or Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
  • Medical school transcript
  • Parts 1, 2 and 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or equivalent scores
  • If a graduate of a medical school outside the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico, a valid ECFMG certificate or one that does not expire prior to the start of the fellowship
  • If a not a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident, a copy of current, appropriate visa

Interviews for selected applicants are held from the end of August through early November for positions starting in July of the next academic year. All fellow applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Our institutional Graduate Medical Education and ACGME accreditation requirements specify that all applicants must be board-eligible/certified in Pediatrics as determined by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Foreign medical graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate.

Application Deadlines

  • Please consult NRMP for important recruitment dates which vary a little from year to year. In general, applicants may begin loading application documents into ERAS by July. We urge candidates to have their applications completed in ERAS by mid-August. Match results are released each year in December.
  • Applicants are advised to access their file frequently to ensure timely submission of all components of their application. An interview is required for applicants who will be ranked for matching.
