Rare Tumors

Expertise

The pediatric oncology experts at CHAM have over 100 years of combined experience treating children with every kind of cancer. As a tertiary referral center and the largest children’s hospital in the area, the division of pediatric hematology, oncology, and cellular therapy at CHAM cares for hundreds of patients each year, including many patients with very rare and often difficult to treat cancers such as pleuropulmonary blastoma, esthesioneuroblastoma, thymoma, melanoma, and gastrointestinal cancers associated with hereditary predisposition syndromes. Our multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care ensures your child will receive the best care in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Research and Innovation

Our team of experts discuss every new patient in detail at our weekly multi-disciplinary tumor board. We integrate physicians across pediatric and adult oncology to ensure best treatment options are available to your child. We partner with researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and leading childhood cancer research and clinical trial organizations to bring the most up-to-date and cutting edge therapeutics to all patients. Personalized, or precision, medicine (i.e., molecular profiling of tumors) is a routine component of the care we provide for your child with a rare childhood cancer diagnosis, particularly when there are no satisfactory standard of care treatment options. In addition, all children with rare tumors are evaluated for a genetic cause of cancer through our pediatric cancer genetics clinic.
