    • Dr. Braganza has grown her clinical practice at the Comprehensive Health Care Center, part of the Montefiore Medical Group, a Federally Qualified Health Center for almost 20 years. She has been the Director of the Social Pediatrics Program since 2013, a program that focuses on the promotion of health of underserved communities, training future healthcare leaders and advocating for social justice and health equity. She has mentored countless trainees in their career and academic pursuit in pediatrics, academic medicine, public health and advocacy. Her academic interests include healthcare disparities, social determinants of health, medical education and advocacy.

    Personal Biography

    Sandra Braganza, MD, MPH, is Program Director, Social Pediatrics Program at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Associate Professor, Pediatrics and Associate Professor, Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus is in the primary care of children and adolescents addressing their social and emotional needs.

    In 1994, Dr. Braganza received her Bachelor of Arts from New York University. She pursued her medical education at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 1998. Dr. Braganza came to Einstein for her postdoctoral training, completing her pediatric internship in 1999 and her pediatric residency in 2002, taking on the role of Chief Resident in her final year. In 2006, she completed her Master of Public HEalth at Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health.

    Dr. Braganza’s research focuses on medical education and addressing the social determinants of health in urban low-income communities. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, review papers, abstracts, and local and national invited presentations. She is a reviewer for several journals and working on several publications.

    Dr. Braganza is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Hispanic Medical Association and the Ambulatory Pediatric Association.
