Personal Biography
Marise D’Souza, MD, MSc, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. D’Souza is a pediatric cardiologist with a specific focus on non-invasive imaging, particularly transthoracic and fetal echocardiography. She works in both inpatient and outpatient settings and is also interested in quality improvement in pediatric cardiology.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in human biology, health and society and human development from Cornell University in 2002, Dr. D’Souza earned her Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College in 2007. She then completed her pediatrics residency at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in 2010. While attending the University of Virginia, Dr. D’Souza completed her Master of Science in clinical research in 2013, followed by her pediatric cardiology fellowship in 2024.
Dr. D’Souza’s research focuses on quality improvement and fetal imaging. Her prior experience has been in cardiac monitoring for Pompe disease and for pediatric stem cell transplant. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, abstracts, posters and at numerous national conferences.
Dr. D’Souza is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Cardiology. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Echocardiography and the Fetal Heart Society.
