Personal Biography
Aneela A. Bidiwala, MBBS, is Director, Bronchoscopy Program, Director, Neuromuscular Program and Associate Program Director, Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on aerodigestive patients with chronic cough, neuromuscular patients with respiratory issues and sickle cell patients with respiratory issues.
In 1995, Dr. Bidiwala completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan. She began her postgraduate training in Karachi, Pakistan, with a yearlong internship at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, followed by a three-year pediatric residency at Aga Khan University Hospital. She later came to New York, completing a three-year pediatric residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2008. In 2012, she extended her training, taking on a pediatric pulmonology postdoctoral fellowship at Winthrop University Hospital and completing it in 2015.
Dr. Bidiwala’s research focuses on aerodigestive disorders and childhood interstitial lung disease. She has been principal investigator and co-investigator on research projects and has shared her research through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, invited presentations and abstracts. She is also a reviewer for scientific journals, including Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Pulmonology and Therapeutic Advances in Respiratory Disease.
Dr. Bidiwala is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
