Personal Biography
Katharine Kelter, MD, is an Attending Physician at the Comprehensive Family Care Center at Montefiore. Her clinical focus is on pediatrics and breastfeeding medicine.
In 1998, Dr. Kelter received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Williams College. She then attended Icahn School of Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2004 and her Master of Public Health in 2005. She began her postgraduate training in 2004 with a year-long internship in Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She continued to train at our institution and completed a residency in Pediatrics in 2007. Dr. Kelter obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2011.
Expanding on her clinical focus, Dr. Kelter’s research is primarily on improving breastfeeding support for patients and lactation education for providers. She has shared her expertise at many interdisciplinary meetings.
Dr. Kelter is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and the International Lactation Consultant Association.
