Our Visitor Policy Has Changed

As the COVID-19 situation evolves, our hospitals, Emergency Departments and ambulatory sites will remain open to serve the community. However, we need to take important steps to keep patients, visitors and staff safe.

As mandated by the New York State Department of Health, visitor access to all of our locations will be restricted as follows:

Visitors will be prohibited at all Montefiore locations, including Emergency Departments, hospitals/inpatient units and ambulatory sites.

Exceptions to this policy will be made for the following care areas:
  • Mother-Baby and NICU, one healthy visitor at a time;
  • Labor and Delivery, one healthy partner may accompany the patient;
  • Pediatrics, including the Pediatric Emergency Department and the NICU, one healthy visitor may accompany the child;
  • Palliative care patients, one healthy visitor at a time;
  • Geriatrics patients seen either in the ambulatory setting or coming in for surgery, one healthy visitor may accompany the patient;
  • At discharge, one healthy visitor may come to assist in discharge;
  • In the Adult Emergency Departments, one healthy visitor is allowed for patients requiring assistance.

Visitors will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms at entrances, and will be asked to leave if they display symptoms.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this new policy may cause. We hope you understand that these steps are necessary to keep everyone as safe as possible as we manage the COVID-19 crisis.
