    Personal Biography

    Rhonda Graves Acholonu, MD, FAAP, joined Children’s Hospital at Montefiore as the Vice Chair of Education in June 2017. She comes to Montefiore from NYU Langone Medical Center, where she served as Associate Dean for Diversity and Academic Affairs, and Director of Medical Education in the Clinical Sciences for the NYU School of Medicine.

    Dr. Acholonu earned her medical degree from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine. She completed her residency at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and was Chief Resident her final year.

    Following residency, Dr. Acholonu went to Bellevue Hospital Center, where she was the Director of Inpatient Pediatrics for one year before assuming the position of Residency Program Director, a role she held for seven years.

    Dr. Acholonu has served on numerous committees, particularly related to faculty diversity and inclusion as well as housestaff and faculty selection committees. She has been recognized broadly for her work and received numerous awards, including the MSI AHEC Champions of Diversity Health Professions Educator Award in 2016 and the Award for Exemplary Achievement in Medical Education, also in 2016.
