    Personal Biography

    Elizabeth M. Alderman, MD, is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Director of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program in Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Alderman was chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Section of Adolescent Health of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a nationally elected position, from 2007 to 2011. In addition, she served for more than 10 years as a member of the Executive Council of New York, Chapter 3 of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2012 Dr. Alderman will serve as President of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.

    Dr. Alderman earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her MD degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She completed her clinical training at Montefiore Medical Center andAlbert Einstein College of Medicine.

    She joined the pediatric faculty at Montefiore and Einstein upon completion of her fellowship in 1992 and was promoted to professor in 2003. Dr. Alderman has directed the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Adolescent Medicine since 1992, and she is founder and chairperson of the Montefiore Adolescent Primary Care Initiative.
    Dr. Alderman’s academic interests center on health screening and quality improvement in the delivery of adolescent health care. Her bibliography includes more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, and more than 30 published abstracts. She is one of the editors of the Textbook of Adolescent Health Care, published in 2011.
