Pediatric patients from the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, who receive care for diabetes management with the Department of Pediatric Endocrine and Daibetes, spent an activity-packed day at the Bronx Zoo. They enjoyed arts and crafts, face-painting, educational activities and talks this year about diabetes in school and emergency medical identification from a variety of speakers who have been affected by diabetes or who are experts on the condition. Special guest Miss Idaho, Sierra Sandison, who made a name for herself when she walked across the pageant stage wearing her insulin pump, gave a talk to the attendees.
